  2. How to reach KIAS (or Holiday Inn Seongbuk):  

 

     From Incheon International Airport:

There are several ways to get to KIAS from Incheon International Airport. You may either take the airport limousine or the airport train or use the taxi service. Choose the most convenient way by referring to the following.

 

Limousine Bus:

You may purchase Limousine or Premium Bus tickets at the Transportation Information Counters located indoors (Exit 4 and 9) or outdoors (Exit 4, 6, 7, 8, 11, and 13) on the passenger terminal arrival floor.

- No. 6002:

The most convenient limousine bus to KIAS is No. 6002, bound for Cheongnyangni. The bus stops at the airport are "5B" and "12A". The fare is 10,000 Korean Won, and the bus departs every 12 to 15 minutes. The first bus departs from the airport at 05:30 and the last bus departs at 23:30. You can get off at 'Cheongnyangni Station' bus stop, which will take about an hour and half.

Then, take a taxi at the Chengnyangni station to reach KIAS. The taxi fare will be about 3,000 Korean Won. Show the 'Campus Map for Taxi Driver' and/or 'Map from Cheongnyangni Station to KIAS' to the taxi driver. In the 'Campus Map for Taxi Driver', please check the specific building you are going (e.g. KIAS Building #1, Apartment-A, etc) so that you do not need to walk around the campus with your luggage.  

Note that if you are going to Holiday Inn Seongbuk, limousine bus No. 6101 is more convenient because it stops at Holiday Inn Seongbuk.

 

- No. 6101:

You can also take the 'Dobong (Seongdong)' route, No. 6101. The bus departs from bus stop 3B and 10A and costs 14,000 won.

If you are going to KIAS then get off at 'Korea Univ. Station' bus stop and take a taxi.

From Korea Univ. Station, the taxi fare will be about 3,000 Korean Won. Show the 'Campus Map for Taxi Driver'. In the map, please check the specific building you are going (e.g. KIAS Building #1, Apartment-A, etc) so that you do not need to walk around the campus with your luggage.  

Please note that if you are going to Holiday Inn Seongbuk, then get off at 'Holiday Inn Seongbuk' bus stop.

 

Airport Railroad

Airport trains are available from the airport to Seoul Station (which is the last stop). If you take the commuter train, it will take 53 minutes to Seoul Station and cost you 3,850 Korean won. If you take the express train, it will take 43 minutes to go directly from the airport to Seoul Station and cost you 8,000 Korean won. To reach KIAS from Seoul station, you can either (i) take Metro Line #1 to Cheongnyangni station and then take a taxi from there, or (ii) take a taxi directly (from Seoul Station to KIAS). Show the 'Campus Map for Taxi Driver' and/or 'Map from Cheongnyangni Station to KIAS' to the taxi driver. In the 'Campus Map for Taxi Driver', please check the specific building you are going (e.g. KIAS Building #1, Apartment-A, etc) so that you do not need to walk around the campus with your luggage.

  

Taxi

If you have heavy luggage, we suggest that you take a taxi. There are two different types of taxis, regular and deluxe (black-colored). In case of the former, it will cost about 75,000 Korean Won from the Incheon International Airport to KIAS including a toll (7,700 Korean Won). If you take a deluxe taxi, it will cost 95,000 Korean Won including toll (7,700 Korean Won). However, please keep in mind that it may cost more depending on traffic conditions. To go to KIAS, show the 'Campus Map for Taxi Driver' to the taxi driver. In the map, please check the specific building you are going (e.g. KIAS Building #1, Apartment-A, etc) so that you do not need to walk around the campus with your luggage.

If you are going to Holiday Inn Seongbuk using a taxi, then please show 'Map of Holiday Inn Seongbuk (small-scale)' and/or 'Map of Holiday Inn Seongbuk (large-scale)' to the taxi driver.

     From Gimpo International Airport to KIAS (or Holiday Inn Seongbuk):

There are several ways to get to KIAS (or Holiday Inn Seongbuk) from Gimpo International Airport.

You may either take the airport limousine or the airport train or use the taxi service. Choose the most convenient way by referring to the following.

 

* Limousine Bus #6101:

You can take the airport limousine bus #6101 at Gimpo airport.
This bus starts from Incheon International Airport and stops at Gimpo International Airport.

If you are going to KIAS then get off at 'Korea Univ. Station' bus stop and take a taxi to KIAS.

             --> click Limousine Bus --> Korea City Dobong, Seongdong

When you take a taxi to go to KIAS, you can show the 'Campus Map for Taxi Driver'. In the map, please check the specific building you are going (e.g. KIAS Building #1, Apartment-A, etc) so that you do not need to walk around the campus with your luggage.  

If you are going to Holiday Inn Seongbuk then get off at 'Holiday Inn Seongbuk' stop.

 

* Seoul Metro

You can use subways at Gimpo airport.

If you are going to KIAS, 

then you can use subways from Gimpo Int'l Airport to Cheongnyangni Station.

There are two ways:

  Way-1 (Maximum time (60-65 minutes), but Minimum Transfer):

           (Metro Line #5) Gimpo Int'l Airport ---> Jongno 3(sam)-ga

           (Metro Line #1) Jongno 3(sam)-ga ---> Cheongnyangni

  Way-2 (Minimun time ~50 minutes, but more transfer; please check the time table for Airport Railroad):

           (Airport Railroad) Gimpo Int'l Airport ---> Hongik Univ.

           (Metro Line #2) Hongik Univ. ---> City Hall

           (Metro Line #1) City Hall ---> Cheongnyangni 

At Cheongnyangni Station, take a Taxi to KIAS. The taxi fare will be about 3,000 Korean Won. Show the 'Campus Map for Taxi Driver' and/or 'Map from Cheongnyangni Station to KIAS' to the taxi driver. In the 'Campus Map for Taxi Driver', please check the specific building you are going (e.g. KIAS Building #1, Apartment-A, etc) so that you do not need to walk around the campus with your luggage.

 

If you are going to Holiday Inn Seongbuk,

then you can use the Seoul Metro from Gimpo Int'l Airport to Korea Univ. Station:

    (Airport Railroad) Gimpo Int'l Airport ---> Gongdeok

    (Metro Line #6) Gongdeok ---> Korea Univ. 

At Korea Univ. Station, take a taxi to Holiday Inn Seongbuk.  Please show 'Map of Holiday Inn Seongbuk (small-scale)' and/or 'Map of Holiday Inn Seongbuk (large-scale)' to the taxi driver.

 

Taxi

If you have heavy luggage, we suggest that you take a taxi. There are two different types of taxis, regular and deluxe (black-colored, which might be about 50%-100% more expensive). The regular taxi fare from Gimpo Airport to KIAS will be about 25,000 Korean Won (it can vary though). If you are going to KIAS, show the 'Campus Map for Taxi Driver' to the taxi driver. In the map, please check the specific building you are going (e.g. KIAS Building #1, Apartment-A, etc) so that you do not need to walk around the campus with your luggage. If you are going to Holiday Inn Seongbuk, please show 'Map of Holiday Inn Seongbuk (small-scale)' and/or 'Map of Holiday Inn Seongbuk (large-scale)' to the taxi driver.

   From Cheongnyangi Station to KIAS:

* Taxi

Go out through exit No.2 and take a taxi. 

Show 'Campus Map for Taxi Driver' and/or 'Map from Cheongnyangni Station to KIAS' to the taxi driver. 

In the 'Campus Map for Taxi Driver', please check the specific building you are going (e.g. KIAS Building #1, Apartment-A, etc) so that you do not need to walk around the campus.

It is easy to find a taxi at Cheongnyangni Station.

* Bus

When you get out through exit No. 2, ignore the bus stop you see right away and follow the way without making turns until you see another bus stop. Take No. 201 and get off at 'Hong-neung Elementary School' bus stop. You will see KIAS(KAIST campus) across the street.

    From Hoegi Station to KIAS:

* On-Foot:

Go out through exit No.1. If you do not have lugguage and want to walk to KIAS, it will take about 15 minutes on foot. 

* Taxi

Take a taxi from exit No.1. It will cost about 2,600 Korean Won.

Show the 'Campus Map for Taxi Driver' to KIAS' to the taxi driver. 

In the map, please check the specific building you are going (e.g. KIAS Building #1, Apartment-A, etc) so that you do not need to walk around the campus.

Note that it is a bit harder to find a taxi at Heogi Station than Cheongnyangni Station.

* Bus

From exit No. 1, turn left and follow the sidewalk on the right until you reach the intersection and crosswalk. Cross the street and turn right. Go straight until you see the bus stop. Take No.273 and get off at 'KAIST Campus/Hong-neung Elementary School'
