Objective of the Meeting

In continuation of the 1997 APCTP workshop on "hadrons in medium" and the 2000 KIAS workshop on "explosive phenomena in astrophysical systems," we would like to organize an international symposium jointly sponsored by KIAS and APCTP on a wide range of topics that focus on recent developments in the common areas of hadron physics and astrophysics. Presently operating space observatories are providing a glimpse into a variety of new states of matter possibly present in compact stars and terrestrial laboratories are producing evidences in their support. This meeting is particularly timely as the future accelerators in Japan, Germany and elsewhere will start probing in the coming years the conditions hitherto unexplored relevant to compact stars in tandem with the new generation of satellite and terrestrial observatories. It is also highly appropriate to hold the meeting in an Asian Pacific region in view of the strong activities expected therein in the immediate future. The aim of the meeting is to gather, and exchange ideas between, active researchers, both established and upcoming and both theoretical and experimental, in the areas of physics of neutrinos, dense hadronic matter and compact stars.
